Overview

Role Summary

    Drafters will be internal constituent facing, providing outputs in the form of Engineering drawings, build instructions, and illustrations to communicate design and manufacturing processes, all of which meet Minco and industry          standards.  Drafters will contribute in troubleshooting design-related manufacturing challenges and helps to guide decisions.  This position typically works under supervision, requires specific instructions on activities, and seeks          approval for proposed actions.

Responsibilities

Role

  • Prepares engineering drawings for specification, machining, purchasing, tooling, and assembly using 2D and 3D drafting techniques, all which conform to industry standards.
  • Prepares illustrations for manufacturing build instructions per determined format, delivering the highest achievable output to facilitate the build while reducing potential for non-conformance.
  • Prepares technically written build instructions for manufacturing and other document outputs as assigned.
  • Creates basic electrical circuitry design photo plots using appropriate drafting tools.
  • Collaborates with engineering team to provide design support for new and existing product.
  • Prepares Engineering Change Orders to standard or custom guidelines and receives approval for more advanced or uncommon requests.
  • Maintains files, folders, records, and system reports regarding product introduction, maintenance, and obsoletion, such as drawings, designs, specifications, parts and other product requirements.
  • Assists in the determining best practices for design/drafting related tasks.
  • Continually contributes to the improvement of Minco’s products, processes and services to meet or exceed customer requirements and quality objectives.
  • Develops knowledge, skills and abilities in the areas of Continuous Improvement (Lean, Standard Work, Six Sigma, problem solving, innovation, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills

  • Ability to perform engineering drafting, dimensioning, and tolerancing duties with understanding of orthographic projection per ANSI standards.
  • Training and educational experience using parametric solid modeling software utilizing geometric constraints. Understanding of design configurations and tables. 
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving algebra, trigonometry and geometry.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and machining processes and equipment.
  • Understanding of problem-solving principles and practices.
  • Computer skills: Solidworks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); and other applicable applications.
  • Verbal and written communication with co-workers to provide and receive direction.

Educational Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Engineering Design/Drafting Technologies; or
  • Drafting Certification and 1 years manufacturing experience.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Work Environment

  • Professional office environment. May be subject to occasional limited levels of odors, noise, chemicals, fumes, mechanical parts, electrical currents, and other environmental factors in manufacturing environments.
