Overview

 

Manufacturing Engineers successfully lead the design, documenting, implementation, monitoring, and optimizing of product manufacturing plans. They leverage appropriate established and financially responsible innovative manufacturing techniques to facilitate product realization. Manufacturing Engineers collaborate with Design, Process, and Quality Engineers to assess and provide guidance in design configuration optimization to maximize productivity, revenue, and profitability for the company. Manufacturing Engineers ensure all applied tools and manufacturing processes are safe, efficient, effective, reliable, productive, cost-effective, and profit minded. Manufacturing Engineers are the subject matter experts of current and future product manufacturing methods, design for manufacturability, tooling optimization and trends. They provide timely and effective support to Production, Process and Design Engineering, Quality, Planning, Sales, Customer Service, and Purchasing.

Role:

 

  • Accurately utilize appropriate problem-solving tools and skills to permanently solve challenges and opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitors, maintains, and continually improves product, manufacturing plans, internal processes.
  • Identify, assess, and implement cost reduction, and profit improvement opportunities for manufactured products and internal process improvement projects.
  • Supports Minco’s design, implementation, monitoring, optimization, and documentation of department processes.
  • Successfully create and manage all product focused documentation.
  • Provide timely technical support to Engineering, Production, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, Sales, and Customer Service.
  • Proactively investigate, evaluate, and recommend both existing and new processes, materials, and tooling.
  • Ensure implemented tooling and manufacturing plans meet full and complete compliance of any/all internal and external safety guidelines.
  • Provides prompt and effective problem solving support for external constituents’ challenges, in collaboration with Quality, Sales, and/or Purchasing.
  • Ownership of the launch of product in compliance of New Product Introduction (NPI) or New Product Development (NPD) processes, ensuring full compliance with any/all Minco Quality Standards, Certifications (AS9100, ISO, UL, NASA, ESA), and company policies or procedures.
  • Successfully and timely implement all program and service offerings approved by the collaborative work of Minco Management.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certified or competent with Risk Analysis, Failure Analysis/Measurement Analysis/Statistical Analysis tools, calculations, and methods, including, but not limited to Design of Experiment (DOE) and Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility.
  • Proficient with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, Solidworks, all Microsoft Office applications, and an ability to learn other software as needed.
  • Proficiently able to perform intermediate level programming as necessary for department needs to optimize processes.

Qualifications

Work Experience:

 

  • A minimum of two years working in a similar role at a manufacturing company providing diverse product and service solutions.
  • Collaboration with Design Engineering in New Product Introduction, taking responsibility to launch new designs to manufacturing.
  • Experience collaborating with Quality Engineers to resolve internal and external quality issues.
  • Experience optimizing manufacturing processes, including development of tooling and/or product specific automation, and continuation engineering.
  • Experience writing work instructions for a manufacturing environment, including for English as a Second Language (ESL) assemblers.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes including but not limited to electronics manufacturing, light assembly, machining and fabrication processes, etching, plating, resistance welding, soldering, wire processing, lamination.
  • Experience working with manufacturing environments requiring Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention and working within either AS9100 or ISO9001 based quality systems.
  • Familiar with regulatory requirements such as REACH/RoHS/Conflict Minerals.

 

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Materials Engineering.

 

 

Work Environment:

 

  • General office, engineering and production floor, and manufacturing environments.
  • Domestic and/or International Travel might be five percent or more, as needed.
