As an intern at Minco, you will work closely with our engineers in an environment that allows you to learn and apply new knowledge and skills which will help you to prepare for a fulfilling engineering career. This is an exciting opportunity to get real life experience in a manufacturing environment. Selected students will work with our Design and Process Engineers to characterize new materials, develop new products and improve yield, process, and other optimization efforts.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Characterize new materials, test product and processes, research new materials and equipment, create test plans, time studies, and write test reports. Write or update work, technical instructions or standards as necessary.      
  • Track and analyze ongoing operational data to validate assumptions or unqualified data, recognize trends and recommend potential solutions or potential projects; will receive direction on complex technical analyses and problems.
  • Apply technical engineering principles and practices to review and recommend methods to collect and analyze manufacturing data, isolating problem areas or steps, and outlining additional research and investigation required; apply limited judgment within standards and receiving approval on proposed approaches.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited engineering degree program
  • Sophomore level completed toward an engineering degree in mechanical engineering or other related program

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • High level of interest and/or coursework in Material Sciences preferred
  • Ability to work with a team as well as on independent projects
  • Experience reading blueprints, schematics, and other displays
  • Capable of applying technical engineering processes and understanding equipment operation
  • Capable of applying mathematical calculations involving basic statistics and operational data
  • Capable of solving technical problems and recommending solutions
  • Experience with applicable engineering software and programs
  • Computer skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); and other applicable applications including 3D CAD packages (SolidWorks, ProE or similar)
  • Project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work 15 to 20 hours per week during school after full time summer hours are complete.

 

 

Internships are considered temporary positions and are located at our headquarters in Fridley, MN.
