As an intern at Minco, you will work closely with our engineers in an environment that allows you to learn and apply new knowledge and skills which will help you to prepare for a fulfilling engineering career.  Selected students will work with our Design and Process Engineers to characterize new materials, develop new products and improve yield, process, and other optimization efforts. This position provides a good mix of hands on investigation and testing using capital equipment with systems use.



  • Product and process testing, research materials and equipment, create test plans, time studies, and write test reports
  • Write and update work, technical instructions and standards as necessary
  • Track and analyze ongoing operational data to validate assumptions or unqualified data
  • Recognize trends and recommend potential solutions or potential projects;
  • Apply technical engineering principles and practices to review and recommend methods to collect and analyze manufacturing data
  • Isolate problem areas or steps, and outline additional research and investigation
  • Apply limited judgment within standards and receive approval on proposed approaches


Basic Qualifications:

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited engineering degree program
  • Sophomore level completed toward an engineering degree in mechanical engineering or other related program


Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work 15 to 20 hours per week during school after full time summer hours are complete.
  • Experience reading schematics, and other displays
  • Knowledge of technical engineering processes and understanding equipment operation
  • Knowledge of mathematical calculations involving basic statistics and operational data
  • Experience with applicable engineering software and programs
  • Experience with 3D CAD packages (SolidWorks, ProE or similar)
  • Project management skills


Professional Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of solving technical problems and recommending solutions
  • Ability to work with a team as well as on independent projects
  • Easily able to communicate with vendors to secure samples for trial testing


Internships are considered temporary positions and are located at our headquarters in Fridley, MN.
