In this position you will supervise the operators on the production floor as well as oversee daily operations in your area.  You will be responsible for the Dry Cells (Drill, PAF, LUL, AC1, AC2 and Inspection).  The Production Supervisor will be responsible for operational changes, analyzing and developing reports and ensuring production targets and business metrics are met.  You'll work closely with other members of operations; what you do will have an important impact on the company and our customers.  Every day, you will be responsible for delighting the customer, practicing continuous improvement and operating within our company's "icare" values while growing and developing in your role.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, interview, hire, train, and develop staff.
  • Oversee the production floor and daily operations. 
  • Monitor productivity to ensure staffing levels are allocated appropriately to meet operational demand.
  • Respond to employee and management questions and concerns while monitoring operational accuracy and efficiency.
  • Define, implement and sustain Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC) metrics and targets for areas and functions to ensure they are driving the expected behavior and results.
  • Develop operating policies and procedures within the work area to ensure that SQDC metrics and targets are met.
  • Drive continuous improvement through Kaizen: engagement of the workforce, direct observations, identification of the 7 wastes, generation of ideas, try-storming, implementation and sustainment of changes for the better.
  • Lead and ensure the implementation, practice and sustainment of fundamental Lean Principals & Tools such as 5S, Standard Work, Leader Standard Work, Hour by Hour, Visual Metrics, Visual Management, etc.
  • Coach, develop and empower employees to reach business, team and individual goals.
  • Actively develop and manage training, cross-training, and rotation plans for employees to increase their flexibility and value, maintain their skills, reduce safety and ergo concerns, and ultimately create a workforce that can compensate for sudden changes in demand and resources.
  • Support long range capacity planning and drive changes in assigned areas and functions to support that plan.
  • Create and drive employee performance management initiatives
  • Assist with reviewing and coordinating production and general operations, such as shop order management, scheduling, inventory management, quality, and maintenance requirements.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Two years of lead experience within a department or group
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with hazardous materials
  • Experience with final assembly processes
  • Experience with soldering and welding processes
  • Experience with final product inspections
  • Familiar with Value Stream Mapping
  • Experience working in a clean room environment
  • Experience developing operational policies and procedure
  • Experience developing and analyzing operational reports, especially with Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC) metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and motivate others
  • PC skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Previous experience leading Lean, Continuous Improvement or 5S Projects

  • Strong communication skills
